The company’s origins date back to 1 January 1968 and the launch of A.M.S.A (Azienda Municipale Servizio Autolinee), a municipal company founded by the City of Monza to manage the urban public transport service. With the growth in private traffic and the ensuing rise in the company’s operating costs, A.M.S.A. decided to redesign its organisational and financial structure by transforming its legal status to a City of Monza Special Company. In 1997, A.M.S.A. was transformed into a joint-stock company (SpA) and was renamed Trasporti Pubblici Monzesi (TPM), 100%-owned and controlled by the City of Monza.
Brianza Trasporti was founded on 1 November 2007 and is a newly incorporated syndicated company 70%-owned by Autoguidovie, Compagnia Trasporti Nord Milano (CTNM) and 30%-owned by Trasporti Pubblici Monzesi (TPM). Brianza Trasporti has won the seven-year mandate to manage the public transportation service in Monza and Brianza through a call for tenders issued by the Province of Milan.
